2020 has been quite the year.

For me, 2020 has been that year I’ve had to make some of the toughest choices, post-campus life. And I still am in the process of making some choices which I know will impact my future for a very long time. Sometimes, for the hard choices, I find myself postponing a lot but I always end up making the right choice, as per God’s leading through His Word or prayer.

Previously, I normally would make my decisions based on the popular opinion of the people (family/friends, etc) around me or based on their expectations of me. But it has gotten to a point, where I am literally leaning on God as I make the next choice, no matter how small, may it be when to meet somebody or when to leave somewhere, among other things.

I have experienced anxiety and uncertainty, especially where I am moving outside the status quo, but I have learned to listen to the Holy Spirit and let Him carry me through each and every decision in my life. Of course, I have faced backlash in the different areas of my life, but I see the evident progress, as opposed to just choosing the easier option which is basically maintaining the status quo.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

I truly believe and I’m fully persuaded that the Holy Spirit is our Helper, Standby, Comforter, Counsellor, Teacher, Strengthener, and Intercessor. I believe that God gave us His Spirit to walk with us in this walk of faith victoriously. That if we take advantage of the ministry of the Holy Spirit and invest our time in fellowshipping with Him, we will continually and consistently make the right choices and live life to the full. Each of our every step will be ordered by the Holy Spirit. And no matter how hard those choices will be, God will carry us through them successfully. The affliction might last for a moment, but the weight of the glory afterward will for sure outweigh them and will last forever.

Choices have consequences but thank God for His grace because He covers us despite it all. However, it is possible to make the right choices 24/7/365 days a year. Take advantage of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Ask questions. Receive answers. Receive counsel. God sent Him to us so that we can live a victorious life.

The Holy Spirit is the Master Communicator and Extraordinary Strategist. He can communicate to you about that situation or even what’s next for you through His Word, prayer, a vision, or even a dream. Just be keen and note it down, if possible, immediately. Be quick to do that Word because the ability and blessing are in the instruction.

Renew your mind by the Word

One of the first words I got to know when I understood the Gospel is the Greek word for repentance. I got to understand that repentance means a change of mindset. And how do you change your mindset? By renewing your mind through the Word of God. This way, your thoughts are aligned and patterned after the thoughts of God. Remember, the Word contains all the solutions and answers to questions, life has posed to you, hence when you apply it, your choices will definitely be informed.

Learn to constantly and continually RENEW your mind through study and meditation of the Scriptures. You have to replace your thoughts with the thoughts of God by what we call meditation of the Word of God. Remember, meditation is only useful if it is well directed. Also, you cannot meditate on nothing. Find a quiet place and study God’s Word. Think deeply on it by God’s Spirit and say it out aloud until it becomes your dominant thought.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Proverbs 11:14

It is also important to have friends or church mates/ authority who can counsel you and guide you in the walk of faith. The Bible says that in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety. When your relationship with the Holy Spirit is intact, your spirit will always bear witness to the truth or to the pieces of advice offered to you.

However, something I have noticed is that sometimes my friends/family would rather I choose the safe road yet maybe the right choice is the harder one. Beloved, when you soak yourself in the Word, prayer and in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you will always know which path to take. It could be the path less travelled by. It could be the path filled with lots of sacrifices but in the end, it will all be worth it. Sometimes the Holy Spirit likes to tell me, “At the end of it all, it will make sense,” because I ask Him why I am not able to see the bigger picture. And since I have learned to trust Him fully with my life because He is reliable and can be depended on, I rest in His love and let Him carry me through life.

If you have not received Christ, you cannot have the Holy Spirit dwell in you so I invite you to make Christ the Lord of your life.

Say this prayer out aloud;

Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your Word says, “…that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe Jesus died for me and that he was buried and raised from the dead. Right now, I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. I receive by faith eternal life into my spirit. Thank you lord for saving my soul. I now have Christ dwelling in me. I am saved, I am born again, I am a new creation. Hallelujah!

Congratulations! You’re now a child of God! If you said that prayer, please let me know by sending an email to info@nellytuluba.com God bless you!

Hey! Remember you do not have to make the wrong choices. The nature of God resident in you causes you to do things right the first time. And if you didn’t, it is the evidence that you will get it right next time. It is not over until you win. Stay in the Word always!

With love,
