Yesterday morning as I was going to work, I watched a video my relative had forwarded to a certain group and basically, doctors and nurses were imploring people to #StayHome to avoid contracting the Corona Virus. When I checked my social media, the message was still the same. Stay Home. Work from Home. But then, I had to show up for work.

Now, I work in the hospital community of Nairobi. From the office, I can literally see Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Hospital. There are so many hospitals around, offices of medical consultants and physicians among others. In my office building, the 1st and 2nd floors are occupied by offices of medical consultants and a hospital. So, if one has corona virus symptoms, they are likely to find their way to our building to test for the corona virus using the lifts which we all share. Also, since some of my colleagues have not been around, I have had to serve at the front office desk of our wing, this week. That means being at the front-line; interacting with so many people, receiving packages, documents, among other things which could be contaminated.

Well, I am always geared up; face masks and gloves. I also sanitize very regularly and exercise social distancing, plus I’m observing other government directives, as advised but is this really where my hope is? Is my hope in sanitizers, something that is man-made? Do I sanitize in fear that I might be the next victim? What if some droplets remain on the glove and I touch them by mistake? What happens then?

First of all, let me say that this piece is not pegged on any person that has perished, these past few weeks. Those people that have perished are not just numbers which are already being used as statistics in the media. They were spouses, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, aunties, uncles, cousins, grandparents and beloved friends, colleagues of many. What is even sad is that the victims are not being given back to their loved ones for proper send off. I pray that God, the Father of all comfort will comfort each and every person who is mourning during this difficult time. Since we preach heaven and we believe that heaven is real, then we know that the Christians that have slept have not lost, they are in heaven. Truly, if we believe in what we preach, then we will not think they lost or were disadvantaged. Let your hope be in the truth that one day, you will be reunited with them. I know the pain doesn’t become any less, even with time but hang in there, the Holy Spirit is with you and He totally understands your situation. Take advantage of the ministry of the Holy Spirit and draw comfort from your fellowship with Him.

Is A Christian Protected From The Coronavirus Outbreak- Who Is  A Christian??

We need to first define who is a Christian.

“… And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26).

The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch because they talked and acted like Christ. To be a Christian is more than attending church services on Sundays or being a member of a local church. When you say you’re a Christian, understand that you’re not identifying with a religion, because Christianity is not a religion! Rather, you’re declaring the lordship of the Lord Jesus Christ over your life (Romans 10:9-10.)

Christianity is not a religion. Real authentic Christianity is not religion. Most of the people in the world do not know what Christianity is all about because the more popular side of Christianity is the religious side of Christianity. Some even think Christianity started as a result of martyrdom which is not true. Jesus Christ was not a martyr. A martyr dies for what he believes. Jesus did not die for what He believed. Jesus was a sacrifice for you and me. He gave Himself, of His own free will. Christianity is a living relationship with God! It is divinity in man. Christianity is divinity in humanity. Christianity is the pulsating life of God in a man. Christianity is God dwelling in a man.

Christianity is all about having a personal relationship with God. Christianity is not the imitation of Christ. “What Would Jesus Do” is not Christianity😂In Christianity, there is the imitation of Christ but that does not define Christianity. It is just like, a kitchen and a house. The kitchen is in the house but it is not the house. How do we imitate God? By walking in love among other things. Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is all God is, tabernacled in a man. The secret of Christianity is the Holy Spirit. (to discuss this in detail later). God does not want people to pray to an abstract God, a being that they can’t see or have a relationship with. Instead, God wants His children to pray to Him, not out of fear but because they have a relationship with Him. Prayer is fellowship and Communion with God. In conclusion, Christianity is the life of God perambulating in a man who has believed and confessed the lordship of Jesus Christ.

What God has said in His Word Concerning Protection of Believers (Christians?)

I was actually surprised to study that there has been a plague in this world, almost every century. For example, the Plague of Justinian. This pandemic is believed to have originated in Africa and then spread to Europe through infected rats on merchant ships and was soon claiming up to 10,000 lives per day. It is believed to have killed at least 25 million people, but the actual death toll may have been much higher. In 1347, the “Black Death” spent half a decade tearing across the continent. The populations of whole towns were wiped out, and it was said that the living spent most of their time burying the dead in mass graves. The Black Death finally subsided in the West around 1353, but not before it killed as many as 50 million people—more than half the population of Europe. Not to mention, the Spanish Flu, Cholera Outbreak, among Others (Wikipedia.)

However, does this mean that we are all doomed and anything can happen to the believer?

Beloved, God does not play hide and seek with His brethren. God is not panicking now in heaven, asking Angel Gabriel what to do about the outbreak. There are divine laws that are in place to ensure that the person who has declared the Lordship of Jesus Christ is Protected.

The law of life is at work in the believer, he should not perish!

John 3:16 outlines that God so loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten son to die for you and me on the cross, NOT to start a religion but so that each and every man who believes and confesses the Lordship of Jesus Christ will NOT PERISH but have a relationship with Him and eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Brothers and sisters, there is a divine law in force; that any man who receives salvation WILL NOT perish. That is why your life is preserved. Religion might tell you to cover yourself with the blood of Jesus Christ every time😅 but there is already a divine law at work in you. The moment you received Christ; your case was settled. You are preserved and protected; NOTHING can harm you.

Beloved, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is at work in you. Eternal life (Zoe) is at work in you.The life of God is running through your veins and it is a disease destroying life. Eternal life is in the NOW so start enjoying it. Let this be your consciousness and refuse to speak fear and walk in boldness because you know who you are in Christ Jesus! Follow the directives put in place with boldness and not fear of death.

Angels have been assigned to each and every believer, for their protection. And one thing about angels and plagues is that angels are usually very active in keeping plagues away from God’s people.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand but it will not come near you (Psalm 91:4-6)

According to Google, Pestilence is defined as, ‘a fatal epidemic disease, especially bubonic plague.’ Now, imagine each and every child of God is protected from any perilous pestilence, whether they know & believe it or not. Perilous pestilence means open pestilence, for example, ebola outbreak.

In verse 11, God says that He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

Can it get better than this?

God has promised to command his angels to guard His children. they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. If you will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. And you know what? This is no longer a promise. It is our Present Hour Reality!!

Now, the question is, how many angels does one Christian have?

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, Hebrews 12:22

Beloved, where we live, there is an innumerable company of angels. There are angels assigned to us, for our protection and other things. All we just need to do is be conscious of it. Some of us have met angels and they didn’t even realize it was angels. Start being conscious of this today. Don’t live life like you are alone because you are not. You have Christ in you and that’s all you need. Angels are ministering spirits sent to serve you, child of God.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares Hebrews 13:2 (KJV)

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14 NIV

Even Jesus outlined some very interesting signs which would follow the believer. Key to note is that the signs are the ones which would follow the believer meaning that the believer would not have to pray or struggle to get the signs. It would be effortless.

Jesus told the disciples; He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover Mark 16:16-20 (KJV)

Now, I know these promises look very theoretical so let me remind you of saints who lived the Word.

Once upon a time, Paul was gathering sticks and was laying them on the fire, a poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand. The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, “A murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him to live.” But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed. The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.

Precious saints, Paul’s phronesis (mindset) was that no evil could befall him. He was above all because Christ was in Him (John 3:31). And this is how you ought to live your life; with boldness under the protective wings of the Almighty when you know how much He loves you as Father God! As you sanitize, it is with boldness, not fear!!! Because you know that eternal life is at work in you.

Another encouraging word is in 2 Kings chapter 6, where the king sought to capture Elisha and he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Oh HALLELUJAH. Precious saints, those are that with us are more than any virus, disease or any other challenge in life. The devil cannot corner us. More angels have been reassigned to our streets, schools, offices, homes. We cannot lose. Our victory is guaranteed. We are back in charge. We are not alone. The coronavirus has been cut off. Its influence in nations across the world has been cut off. It is dead in the name of Jesus.

Then Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. 2 Kings 6:12-18 (NIV) Now, this is a man who had the understanding of who he was and who God was to him. He knew he had the authority and he exercised it. He remain composed, despite being sought out by a very powerful person. He didn’t fear death. He believed in his God. So, he chose to see things with the eyes of the spirit.

Brothers and sisters, we always have the advantage. Open your eyes and see it. Christ in us is our ADVANTAGE. The grace of God at work in our lives is our advantage. Don’t think like a mere, helpless man with no Holy Spirit, who is our Senior Partner and Helper in this life. Speak life to your family, friends and colleagues. Be the glue that holds everything together in your sphere of contact because Christ in you.Where there is despair and hopelessness, speak hope. Let your thoughts and words dispense love, peace and joy. Speak the Word of God to your sphere of contact.

Finally, create time to labour in prayer. Declare and affirm that the global economy will not collapse. Declare nations and families are restored. Claim your social life back. Claim your offices, churches back. Declare that Coronavirus is cut off.  Yesterday, during the Global Day of Prayer with Pastor Chris and Pastor Benny Hinn, We declared that the corona virus is cut off. We pronounced the virus dead. And it surely is!

Next, we discuss about the significance of your tongue and words, in light of these truths. Because if you don’t speak right, everything we have talked about today will never be practical for you. Let your words be full of hope. Don’t join the world in the despair, remember you’re the light of your world!!

You can also join us, as we pray and fast with Pastor Chris and Pastor Benny for the next 7 days. You can watch the re-runs on http://prayer.christembassy-ism.org/index.php?team=nairobicell1 or https://youtu.be/NQHDHd2u_mY
