Today is Father’s Day, so let me gush about my Daddy.

After months of enduring a very toxic environment and resigning from employment last year and turning 30 years old (ten days later), my dad called me and said, “Forget about corporate and looking for a job, for now. Go to Kenyatta University and find out about their MBA degree programme, upcoming intakes, and school fees and report to me what you find.”

Of course, I said okay but I did not go ahead and make the inquiry. Instead, I later politely told my dad that I would do my Master’s degree later in life when I would be able to pay for the programme myself. The back and forth on why I was not taking his offer went on for months. Meanwhile, the August intake at KU was approaching. So, my dad called me one day and said, “Look my pension came in today and I’ve sent to your brother to pay for the school fees for your MBA degree at Kenyatta University. The upcoming intake is in August, right?”

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s how I lost the fight😂😂😂

Anyway, I went ahead and enrolled and acknowledging that this is my best decision I made is an understatement! That is how healed from my experience and I have learnt so much. And now, I’ll be concluding my MBA course work one year later, this coming August.

Being 30, my parents should have been pestering me about settling down or getting another job or having me pay for my own education at that level, but instead, they still continue to invest in me and give me the best that life has to offer!

To date, my dad is heavily involved in my life. Seriously, he knows the units I’m currently taking, if I have an annoying neighbour, my favourite lecturers, if I have a cancelled class, how I got home last night, my business ideas, dreams in my life e.t.c. And he calls me daily in the morning and evening whether I call back or not.

My dad has modelled what marriage and fatherhood should be and I pray that my children in the future will get to experience this kind of love and commitment on this earth.

I’ll be honest. Sometimes, I stay up late into the night praying to God to satisfy my parents with a long life so that I can repay and at least show them that their investment in me was not in vain.

I know they are proud of me for sure but I pray that one day my dad and mum will get to experience my tokens of thanksgiving to them in a biig way that I haven’t done before. Well, I’m not worried. I know the day will come.

Anyway, today is Daddy’s day and on behalf of my brothers who are amazing fathers as well, Happy Father’s Day, Dad!!

We grew up not feeling the negative impact of having an army dad who was always away. For 33 years, you were home every weekend and when you missed it, it was because you were planning for a 2 weeks leave during our holidays. You loved and continue to love us and discipline us, which has contributed to who we are today.

Thank you dad!

Thank you for making God known to us at very young ages! Thank you for all the sacrifices that you made so as to ensure that we had the best in this life!

May your sunset days be filled with so much peace and joy. May your steps continue to be ordered of God and may you continue to serve Him sacrificially! May you continue to enjoy divine health and may your energy be renewed daily! I pray that you continue to soar higher and higher, registering great results and setting standards, even at your age! Strength is yours! Wisdom is yours! May the peace f God and joy in the Holy Spirit garrison your heart and mind, now and forever more!

You sacrificed the pleasures of this life and gave us the best life. You showed us the value of hard work, I still admire your business acumen to date! Thank you Daddy. I pray that we model the same lives too.

Happy Happy Father’s Day Daddy!! You are the very best!!
